This is actually something that I wondered about when I was a Witness. Unless Satan was incredibly stupid, he would have realised he was playing into Jehovah's hands.
Ah well. I guess delusions of grandeur tend to stop you thinking clearly. Never mind Satan, old chap - at least you've got a good while left to play as Armageddon doesn't seem to be coming any time soon.

Jesus taught us how to be effective APOSTATES
by Terry inwhy would it be any different for christians today?.
in early christianity the strongest and most notable feature of faith was seen in the following behavior.. .
1.jesus constantly argued, questioned and debated with authorities of his own religion'.

IF JESUS COULD QUESTION and DEBATE with the authorities set in place by JEHOVAH; why shouldn't a follower of Jesus imitate his behavior and attitude today?
Possible JW answer: Because he does not have the authority from his heavenly father, Jehovah, that Jesus did. Hence, he should humbly submit to the channel that God is using today.

What Circumstances Cause Some to Decide to Fade or Disassociate ?
by flipper inthis morning in seeing another poster going through this particular dilemma , i thought it would be good to open it up to open discussion to see what various situations occur in our lives that make us come to the decision to fade / or disassociate ?
everybody has different circumstances in their lives - so one size certainly doesn't fit all .
everybody has there pressure points in life they can deal with - some cannot.

During the time I spent researching, there was a period of around three days when I felt disassociating was the right thing to do. I had gotten baptised into something that I subsequently regarded as disgusting and harmful, and I'm the type of person who likes to tie up loose ends. I was (and still am, in some ways) close to my immediate JW family members, so that was a very stressul time as I knew the likely result.
But then I came around to thinking that, actually, this tin pot apocalyptic cult's paperwork doesn't actually mean jack, and that if I'm still down as a member what difference does it actually make to anything apart from those relationships? So I decided to take the course of less damage and not disassociate. My exit wasn't a normal fade; my meeting attendance actually went from fully regular to non-existant between one meeting and the next. And I was relatively open about my doubts with elders. But they didn't come after me, as it were. I'm now away from the locality and the control.
It hurts me very much to think of how the ones that meant the most to me might shun me (not sure about this) if I was announced as being "no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses", but I also know why they have their blind spots. I would have been the same.
What will grow crooked, you can't make straight
It's the price that you gotta pay
Do yourself a favour and pack your bags
Buy a ticket and get on the train
Buy a ticket and get on the train
Cause this is fucked up, fucked up
Cause this is fucked up, fucked up
People get crushed like biscuit crumbs
And lay down in the bitumen
You have tried your best to please everyone
But it just isn't happenin'
No, it just isn't happenin'
And that is fucked up, fucked up
And this is fucked up, fucked up
This your blind spot, blind spot
It should be obvious, but it's not.
You cannot kickstart a dead horse
You just crush yourself and walk away
I don't care what the future holds
'Cause I'm right in your arms today
With your fingers you can touch me
I am your black swan, black swan
But I made it to the top, but I made it to the top
And this is fucked up, fucked up
You are fucked up, fucked up
This is fucked up, fucked up
We are black swans, black swans

by ImFreeatlast init took a long time, but i can finally say i'm out and i took my family with me.. this is my first post but i have been reading here for a while.

Excellent news! That sounds like a very tricky job very well done.
The biggest piece of advice i can give is not to say you dont believe it but to say I dont understand it, that way they dont clam up and shut themselves in the 'its from the governing body mode'.
That's something I only really came to appreciate after I'd already been honest with my family. As soon as you start to directly attack you're triggering an awfully big mental blockade. I regret that I could have been more clever in helping them to think, but I'm not married and the main thing was that I sorted myself out.
All the best with your relatively new freedom.

What will you do when the Great Tribulation Begins?
by Malkiel ini've always wanted to ask this question to those that have decided to leave the organization.. what will you do when the great tribulation begins?.
right now folks, a lot is happening in the political world.. gordon brown (prime miniter of england) last week gave a speech to the un stating that it is time for the un to step in and solve the world's problems, (specifically mentioning the economy and hunger crisis worldwide.).
barrack obama is shaping up to be the next president, a fellow who sure knows how to persuade and lead great crowds.

Malkiel,
Just a quick note to say I respect you for still being here and continuing to post your responses in this thread you started. I think there were some comments earlier to the effect that having discussion with you is pointless as you are likely to disappear, but you should feel free to respond as you see fit, taking your time. I guess some have spent time which they naturally see as wasted with other people who never got back to them. Glad to see you're still here.
And don't forget that book! :) -

WHAT MADE YOU LEAVE? Doctrine or people?
by chuckyy inhi.. just wondering what made you take the final leap out of the org?
was it doctrinal in that certain things just didnt add up or was it because of the actions of people in the org.

by Princess Daisy Boo ini mean seriously friends... what difference does this announcement make to the grand scheme of things?.
yes, it may be a huge change to the way they do things, but what effect will it really have?.
it is not like we can use it against them to prove that they are not a ucked fup horrible mind controlling cult.

How can anyone say this isn't a major change? For how long have JW's had meetings every other day of the working week? And for those of us with families still in, it's very important as it directly affects them and their indoctrination. As for boredom, If you don't want to read about it don't click the threads.
By the way, this isn't the first thread about being bored with the BS topics either. :P
